PRINCIPAL

Ms Strachan

Principal

Thank you for visiting our webpage. We are delighted and hope that our information will give you a good idea of what we stand for and our aims and objectives for the young people who join us. We are a very family orientated school and have a happy and positive vibe. The information included will explain that we are not a mainstream school but a school that caters for learners experiencing learning difficulties. We do follow the CAPS Curriculum and our Matriculants write the National Senior Certificate. Our aim is to return learners to mainstream and we manage to do so with many of our learners. They fit back easily into mainstream because they have covered the same work content and we have helped them to become independent workers.

I believe that to teach them effectively you must touch the hearts long before you begin to teach their minds." - Vicki Savini

I am a Foundation Phase specialist teacher with many years of experience in various schools across two provinces. I took up my post at Camelot in 2016 and am currently teaching the most rewarding grades which is a combined grade 1 and 2 class.

My many years of experience have helped me develop a set of beliefs about how I can draw out the best in every child.

Children are unique beings, they learn independently and have their own learning styles. I recognize that patience, understanding, compassion and sensitivity are essential to my profession and aim to provide it at all times.

There is definitely no other more profound and satisfying way to spend my day at work.

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, what sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove - but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."  (Forest E Witcraft)

Art is my second passion; hence I studied Fine Arts as well. I love being creative and thinking outside the box. I enjoy bringing my creative side into my teaching, in order to make learning fun.
